INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The following internships are available for the Spring 2013. Spring interns will be expected to report to work in early January 2013 and work through May 2013.
Sports Management- Assist the General Manager. Research prospective players. Administrative duties to include preparing for the NPF Draft.
PR/Media Relations - Responsible for maintenance of team website and social media. Helping to promote the NPF Draft and 2013 season.
Promotions - Responsible for creating the 2013 promotions schedule. Attend public appearances to market the Racers. Bring creative ideas to market the team and create marketing materials.
The following internships are available for the summer 2013 season. Summer interns will be expected to report to work in early May, 2013 and work through the conclusion of the home schedule (approx. Aug 19). Summer interns have the opportunity to earn commission through sales, an hourly wage at select Racers youth events and a monthly fuel stipend. Evening and weekend work will be required and all interns must have local housing.
Tickets - Serve as a liaison between the team and fans wishing to purchase tickets. Interns will be responsible for selling tickets, making phone calls to an existing database as well as cold calling, filling walk-in and phone orders, game supervision and staffing of ticket windows, customer service during and following games, compiling daily/weekly sales numbers, orchestrating group outings and other office and stadium duties as necessary. Make group and advertising calls on behalf of the team, office personnel.
Sponsorships - (Off-season) responsible for seeking out new corporate partners for Akron Racers. Duties include cold calling, attending networking events, b2b sales and more revolving around the selling of sponsorships. (In-season) responsible for maintaining sponsorships, ensuring all activation agreements are fulfilled and assisting in the upkeep of accounts. Also includes seeking out possible future sponsors and entertaining clients at Racers games to begin negotiations for future sponsorships. Make group and advertising calls on behalf of the team, office personnel. Other office duties such as selling tickets may be required.
Merchandise - Serve as a Racers representative between the team and our customers and vendors. Assist the Merchandise Manager with inventory, stocking, filling walk-in and online orders, game supervision of merchandise area and staffing at all events. Interns must also compile daily/weekly sales and inventory reports. Make group and advertising calls on behalf of the team, office personnel. Other office/stadium duties may be required from time to time.
Promotions - Responsible for in-game promotions, attending public appearances to market the Racers, interacting with fans, creating marketing materials, assisting with team advertising campaigns and marketing the team. Make group and advertising calls on behalf of the team, office personnel. Entertaining fans at all Racers events is required. Candidates must be personable and energetic.
PR/Media Relations - Responsible for maintenance of team website, social media, game day notes for media/fans, assisting media with coordinating player interviews, writing of feature stories and game recaps/previews for team website, some photography may be required, compiling in-game stats to support broadcast team. Assist broadcast team with set-up and game production. Make group and advertising calls on behalf of the team, office personnel. Other office/stadium duties may be required from time to time.
Photography - Responsible for photographing Akron Racers home games and events held at Firestone Stadium. This includes Youth Tournaments, High School Tournaments and College Events, in additon to the professional games at Firestone Stadium. Previous sports photography experience preferred but not required. Must have own camera and equipment.
Grounds Crew- Serve as assistant to the Head Groundskeeper in the maintenance of the playing field at Firestone Stadium. Applicants should be able to work well with others in an environment which may included long hours and stressful situations. Applicants must be able to lift 50lbs. Duties include but are not limited to raking, chalking, and maintaining cleanliness in and around the stadium, as well as the restrooms.
Food & Beverage - Work closely with the Concession Manager to ensure all elements of food and beverage are successful. Assist with inventory control on all concession supplies. Assist with the coordination and operation of all concession stands and picnic areas. Research and implement new ideas including food items, stands and pricing. Work with front office to reach revenue and customer service goals.
