The following internships are available for the Summer 2018 season. Summer interns will be expected to report to work in early May 2018 and work through the conclusion of the home schedule (approx. Aug 19). Evening and weekend work will be required and all interns must have local housing. The application deadline for summer internships is March 16, 2018.
Tickets - Tickets interns will serve as a liaison between the team and fans wishing to purchase tickets. Interns will cultivate relationships with these groups and try to engage with the community outside of the softball world to create interest in attending Racers games. Interns will be responsible for selling tickets, making phone calls to an existing database, cold calling, filling walk-in and phone orders, supervising and staffing ticket windows during games and amateur tournaments, customer service during and following games and tournaments, compiling daily/weekly sales numbers, orchestrating group outings, and other office and stadium duties as needed.
Marketing & Community Relations -Interns are responsible for planning and executing assigned themed game promotions, attending public appearances to market the Racers, createing marketing materials, assisting with team advertising campaigns, and general marketing of the team. Candidates must be personable and energetic. Other office and stadium duties may be required during professional season.
Game Day/Special Events -Interns are responsible for planning & executing in-game promotion, acting as customer service representative, assisting concessions, tickets, & merchandise where needed during all Racers home games and youth tournaments. This position will have interns working different areas of Firestone Stadium and surrounding fields. This position is mostly nights and weekends.
PR/Media Relations - PR/Media Relations interns are responsible for maintaining the team website, social media presence. They also compile game day notes for media/fans, assist media with coordinating player interviews, write feature stories about the players and team, write game recaps/previews for the team website, and compile in-game stats to support the broadcast team. Interns will also assist the broadcast team with set-up and game production, and make group and advertising calls on behalf of the team and on behalf of office personnel. Other office and stadium duties may be required from time to time during the season.
Food/Beverage - Food/Beverage interns will work closely with the Concession Manager to ensure all aspects of food and beverage preparation and distribution are successful at Firestone Stadium and surrounding fields. Duties include assisting with inventory control on all concession supplies and assist with the coordination and operation of all concession stands and picnic areas. Interns will also research and implement new ideas including food items, stands and pricing, and work with the front office to reach revenue and customer service goals.
Amateur Events - Amateur Event intern will assist the Amateur Event Director with the following duties: complete set-up & tear down of sites including dragging & lining fields, scheduling staff, managing of Vaughn Rd. and Diamond Crystal fields. Must be able to work Friday nights and weekends. This internship also involves promoting all amateur events and learning how to manage an event from start to finish.
Social Media - Responsible for updating all social media platforms. Intern will work with the ticket department to help increase awareness and promote ticket packages. They will also work to increase the amount of followers on each of the social media platforms.
Merchandise - Intern will be responsible for increasing sales of merchandise, online and in store. They will work with the social media department to increase awareness of specials and new items. They will work with the merchandise manager on displaying the merchandise and inventory.
