AKRON RACERS
TRAVEL
TO PHILADELPHIA TO BATTLE THE FORCE
McHugh Scheduled to Pitch Opening
Game
Akron, OH –
The undefeated Akron Racers travel to
Allentown, PA to battle the Philadelphia
Force in a four-game series, June 13-16.
Akron convincingly took command of their
opening weekend series against archrival
Chicago sweeping the Bandits in four.
Pitcher
Radara
McHugh
is scheduled to get the start for the
Racers in game one in Philadelphia after
posting two wins and a 0.50 ERA this
past weekend. In 2006, McHugh and Sarah
Pauly (Brakettes) shared the NPF’s top
spot with a 1.24 ERA leading their
respective teams to a berth in the 2006
NPF Championship.
Second baseman, Veronica Wootson
has posted her share of numbers early on
for the Racers. Wootson (Florida State),
a late addition to the Racers’ roster,
wasted no time making a name for
herself. Veronica sealed the sweep for
the Racers in the bottom of the seventh
inning with a walk-off three-run blast
that lifted the Racers past the Bandits
4-3. Wootson is currently batting .417
and has a .917 slugging percentage after
tagging two homeruns against Chicago.
Hometown hero, outfielder Tracee
McCoy hit .375 against the Bandits.
She posted a .625 slugging percentage,
which included two doubles.
