AKRON RACERS TRAVEL TO PHILADELPHIA TO BATTLE THE FORCE

McHugh Scheduled to Pitch Opening Game

Akron, OH The undefeated Akron Racers travel to Allentown, PA to battle the Philadelphia Force in a four-game series, June 13-16. Akron convincingly took command of their opening weekend series against archrival Chicago sweeping the Bandits in four. Pitcher Radara McHugh is scheduled to get the start for the Racers in game one in Philadelphia after posting two wins and a 0.50 ERA this past weekend. In 2006, McHugh and Sarah Pauly (Brakettes) shared the NPF’s top spot with a 1.24 ERA leading their respective teams to a berth in the 2006 NPF Championship.

Second baseman, Veronica Wootson has posted her share of numbers early on for the Racers. Wootson (Florida State), a late addition to the Racers’ roster, wasted no time making a name for herself. Veronica sealed the sweep for the Racers in the bottom of the seventh inning with a walk-off three-run blast that lifted the Racers past the Bandits 4-3. Wootson is currently batting .417 and has a .917 slugging percentage after tagging two homeruns against Chicago.

Hometown hero, outfielder Tracee McCoy hit .375 against the Bandits. She posted a .625 slugging percentage, which included two doubles.
