RACERS TAKE
SERIES FINALE

Akron , Ohio – Before
Sunday night's game, The Akron Racers said they
had something to prove. After losing starters
Crystl Bustos, Jenny Topping and Jamie Southern
to the US National Team, the Racers proved they
could go on, beating the Chinese Taipei National
Team, 2-1.
Oli Keohohou led the Racers
(10-5) offensively, going 2-for-3 after leading off
the second inning with a solo home run to left
center. The homer was her fourth of the year.
After the Chinese Taipei tied the
game up the fourth following a leadoff triple by Lo
Hsiao Ting, the Racers responded in the bottom of
the frame to regain the lead.
Keohohou singled and Kim Gonzalez
came on to pinch run for her. After stealing second
Gonzalez scored on a Brandee McArthur double to
right-center. It proved to be the winning run.
Radara McHugh pitched five strong
innings, walking two and striking out three. She
notched the win, her second of the year, and is now
2-2. Amy Kyler pitched the final two innings of the
night to earn her first save of the year.
The Racers will be out of town the
next two weekends but will return home July 12th to
begin a four-game series against Denso Japan. First
pitch for all four games, scheduled
Wednesday-Saturday, is set for 7:05 pm. For ticket
