AKRON
RACERS PITCHER, ANGELA TINCHER
NOMINATED FOR ESPY
One
of three candidates for “Best Female
College Athlete”
The 2008 ESPY nominees were
announced Tuesday morning with
former Hokie Angela Tincher earning
a nod as one of three candidates for
"Best Female College Athlete" where
she is up against Tennessee women's
basketball player Candace Parker and
University of North Carolina field
hockey player Rachel Dawson. All
three were finalists for the
Honda-Broderick Cup with Parker
winning that award.
"I'm really, really excited and
honored to up for this award,"
Tincher said. "What an incredible
opportunity this is, to be around so
many great athletes in all the
different sports. It's an honor to
be nominated with Candace Parker and
Rachel Dawson for college female
athlete of the year. This has been a
great year for me and this certainly
ranks up there as a highlight. But
it's also great to be able to
represent Virginia Tech one more
time."
The show will be aired on ESPN and
ESPNHD on Sunday, July 20 at 9 p.m.,
Eastern from the Kodak Theatre in
Los Angeles. Justin Timberlake is
hosting the show.
