AKRON, OH… The Akron Racers climbed into second place in the NPF league standings after a stunning 10-0 rout of Denso Japan. The Racers combined speed, power and slick defensive plays to claim their third victory over Denso Japan. The win put the Racers and the league-leading Washington Glory on an collision course when the Glory visit Firestone Stadium July 25-28.

Norrelle Dickson (Oklahoma), the Racers’ rookie third baseman moved into the second place on the NPF leader board with a .397 batting average. Dickson has posted 31 hits, scored 13 runs and has stolen eight bases.

Rookie sensation, Veronica Wootson (Florida State) continues to be the Racers most effective clutch performer. Wootson’s game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Racers past Denso Japan 3-2 last Saturday night Wootson is currently fourth on the NPF leader board with a .380 batting average. The Racers’ second baseman has scored 20 runs, chipped in 14 RBI and stolen eight bases.

Centerfielder, Iyhia McMichael (Mississippi State) has blasted seven home runs placing her second in the league at the mid-point of the Racers 48-game schedule. Rookie pitcher, Jamee Juarez (Ohio State) is third on the NPF strikeout list with 69 in 79.1 innings pitched. Juarez also carries a 1.77 ERA and an 8-4 record.
