Thunder Bats Stay Cold; Collect Just Two Hits on the Night
Solo Homerun by Kristen Butler Leads to Win

LEAGUE CITY, Texas - There was not much offense again on Thursday night at
Big League Dreams as the Texas Thunder dropped a 1-0 decision to the
visiting Akron Racers.

With the game scoreless in the sixth inning the and two outs Akron's
catcher, Kristen Butler blasted a deep homerun to left center field for
the only run of the game.

Outside of the homerun there was only one more threat in the game and it
came from the Thunder.  Rookie Danyele Gomez blasted a triple to left
field, but she was left stranded there.  In the inning, the Thunder would
eventually load the bases, but they were unable to come up with the big
hit.

Both pitchers looked dominant for much of the night in the circle, as
Radara McHugh for the Racers allowed just two hits and Serena Settlemier
allowed seven for the Thunder.   McHugh earned her seventh victory of the
season to five defeats, while Settlemier was the tough-luck loser and
falls to 2-4.

The loss dropped the hometown Thunder to 15-15 on the season and two games
behind the Racers for the final playoff spot in the league.  Akron
improved to 16-13 on the year.

The Thunder will return to action on Friday night, July 20, for the third
game of a four-game set with the Akron Racers.  The Thunder will look to
take a series lead over Akron after splitting the first two games.  Team
USA will then visit Texas for a four-game series beginning on Friday, July
28 and will through Sunday.  Tickets are available by calling the Thunder
